Branding & identity design
WHAT IS IT?
Brand identity is everything people see before they read: the design system, the typography, the colours, the carriers, the brand book that keeps it all disciplined. Done right, identity is strategy made visible.
We build identities for products, companies, clinics, security firms, national heritage sites and international youth programs — from first sketch to the brand book your team actually opens.
THE BICKERSTAFF WAY
The idea above everything; craft right behind it. A strong idea in weak execution multiplies nothing. Naming, tone, typography, casting, music — for us these are carriers of the idea, never "decoration".
We study the category and deliberately walk the other way: a solution that looks like the category doesn't ship. That standard made the mystery-driven X of Khortytsia Island a Cannes Lions winner and turned a medical lab's lens-shaped logo into a bridge between micro and macro worlds.
WHAT WE TYPICALLY DO
- New brand identities and rebrandings
- Design systems and brand books with all key carriers
- Packaging design
- Identity for places, institutions and cultural projects
- Naming and verbal identity — as part of the identity work
NAMING, INSIDE THE SAME CRAFT
A name is the shortest text your brand will ever publish — and the hardest working one. We don't sell naming as a separate product: it lives inside strategy and identity work, where it belongs. A name must pass the same filters as any Bickerstaff idea — does it solve the business task, is it true, is it a little scary, is it unlike the category?
That's how Babyshop became MA — a functional identity for the real workday of motherhood — and how a health clinic became OUTRÉ: French for "unusual", exactly as intended.

FAQ
How long does an identity project take?
A full brand identity typically takes 2–3 months: strategy check, design directions, the system, carriers and a brand book. Scope up or down depending on how much world your brand needs.
Will a bold identity survive our corporate reality?
Bravery is a process, not a leap. We diagnose how much courage your organisation can carry today and grow it step by step — with tests, staged rollouts and proof, not ultimatums.
What exactly do we receive?
A design system, not a logo file: logic, typography, colour, layout principles, key carriers and a brand book. Plus our craft standard — details checked until they carry the idea.
Do you do naming on its own?
No — naming isn't a separate product at Bickerstaff. It runs inside brand strategy or identity work, where the strategic groundwork already exists. That's why the names hold.
Do you use AI in design?
Where it multiplies, yes — always with human judgement on top, and always disclosed. For Esculab, an AI-powered workflow saved about two months of production time without touching the craft.
